Baby chicks are comical and cute but there is a caveat that still makes me uneasy...they live in our attic. Who has chickens in their attic? The Hansen's, and it feels funny. I just don't want to be the dirty animal people but I fear we are headed down that road.
Meet the chicks
(we lovingly refer to them as "Jew Chickens" because of the ear locks they grow when they get older)
They are 5 weeks old and ugly as sin.
Stellas are Blue Silkies
and as hilarious as they look now at 4 days old, they look even more so as they get older.
Silkies aren't really good for anything other than entertainment but I have wanted one since Maya gave me this book and now my 2010 Easter fantasy resides in my attic.
We will likely only keep one, maybe two of these
so if anyone is looking for lawn ornaments, call me.
so if anyone is looking for lawn ornaments, call me.
We also have one more house guest.
open ended trip to Rexburg last week.
E and I are not cat people
(poor E is not an animal person at all, he asks himself every morning how he got dragged into this harry messy life) but like most, who welcome unwelcome fur balls into their homes, we find this kitty endearing.
Puppy fancies himself a great chicken hunter and has found his Nirvana in our back yard
filled with feathered toys, dirt to roll in, bugs to chase and trees to climb.
Puppy has taken it upon himself to be responsible for cleaning Kimball's face and delicately uses his front paws to hold Kimball's head steady while he licks away with his tiny tongue.
It is sweet and a little unnerving.
All 3 permanent residence try to pretend this feline obligation is inconvenient
but he makes us laugh more than we expected.
Thanks for visiting, Puppy. I hope Hotel Hansen does not disappoint.
