Still catching up...

Grandpa Cy:

Elliott and I have been together for almost 6 years and until last month, I had never met his Grandpa.

We get a card from Cy for every holiday and birthday with little notes about his life and always requesting to meet his new granddaughter.

It is always a little heartbreaking and evokes massive amounts of guilt. The fact that we can find time to hit the river practically every weekend during the summer and have never made it to his house in Southern California makes for bad family ties.

We had a great visit with Grandpa and his girlfriend Joe and one of the highlights of the visit was our lunch. Homemade roast beef on wonder bread with mayo, lettuce and a side of Pringles. I am telling you, it has been so long since I have had white bread, full fat mayo and regular old Pringles. It was incredibly delicious.

One of life's sweet pleasures is knowing the people your people come from. This was a sweet day.

Roomies:
Elliott and I are a little old to be having roommates but the Otto's found themselves homeless, so into our spare room they went and there they built their temporary nest.

The only rule I had was that Chris couldn't play shooting games where I could hear them.
I guess that was the only "official" rule but those who know me know that my steely demeanor when the forks are stacked wrong or the corner of the rug is turned up communicates more unspoken rules than one should have to abide by.

It really was a pleasure having other people in the house and now that they are gone, it is a little lonely with no one to come home to.
It turns our having built in friends has some great benefits.

I love when our house is full of people doing entertaining things

Blogging is like my pants

Blogging is a little bit like my pants.
Or to be more specific, the size of my pants.
When you check on it every day you are never surprised by how it fluctuates and maintenance doesn't seem so overwhelming.

You let yourself slip, get out of the habit and all of the sudden you are up 2 sizes and behind 2 months in blogging.

Dammit!

Cheers to catching up...on both fronts.

A Celebration:
Our friends and co-workers,
Emily and Ryan
joined forces to add another branch to the Pilstl family tree
(and one more level of nepatism to the Atmo-sphere)
Derek was such a lovely officiator.
That white suit with the sunset bouncing off the golfing green.
Classy.

You can't see it but I got the most ridiculous sun burn while setting up for the wedding.
When I looked in the mirror, Emily's words echoed through my head:
"Tan lines are so tacky"
Sorry I had to wear mine to the wedding... it just made you look that much better

Lane, Joan, Andrew, Matt, Derek, Susan, Derek, Amy. Lilly and me.
Where the hell is Elliott? I have no photographic proof he was even there.

Congratulations, my friends.
Now you can stay in at night, cook dinner with good from your garden and be domestic without feeling guilty.
Consider yourselves tied down.
Who better to be tied down next to?

So happy we could dance

Sweet Desolation:

We rafted Desolation Canyon again this year and I dare say it was the best year so far.

This photo was taken on day 4 when for a few hours we were without rain.
Those were a very precious few.

Yes I am wearing it over my wet suit and under my rain coat.
A girl needs to look pretty. Right?
maybe gold lamé isnt the best way to do that...
