Great Weekend Warrior

We went for a little weekend adventure into the Southwest mountains in the great state of Utah. Traveling back and forth to California with my dad while I was young and almost every weekend while I lived in Vegas made me think I had seen the whole state. Let me say, this is not true.
This weekend our adventure took us to Escalante and Capitol Reef and I am converted. I have always liked Southern Utah but after a while one red rock looks like another. Red. Bad attitude? Yes, but so is my reality. This was a great mix of good people (Chris and Saphu our only other "couples" friends we see frequently),

cool weather and fall colors. Gorgeous! The self-timing pictures didn't turn out so well but you get the idea of how happy and refreshed we are in the great outdoors. The hiking was enough to get you short of breath at times without being challenging and the weather was ideal.
On top of all of that, I got to drive my race car like a race car on the winding back roads through the mountains at high speeds. Don't do this with kids in the car, it will make grown men scream.
I love that Elliott is a true adventurer and he is up for anything. I also love that he will drag me along with my sore knees and fat butt so we can do it together. Good times.

Don't tell Elliott, but...

You Belong in New York City

You're the energetic, ambitious type.
And only NYC is fast enough for you.
Maybe you'll set yourself up with a killer career
Or simply take in all the city has to offer.

This is ironic since Elliott has told me how much he wants to move to New York but I just can't get excited about living in poverty away from the mountains.

There were times that I loved it there, the fall of 2004 was one of the better times in my life with Elliott flying back and forth to surprise me, Kimball charming people on the subway, working at the US Open (awesome) and my dear roommate David taking the morning train (My Baby Takes the Morning Train) and JasonMraz providing the soundtrack to my life. I have had my romantic time in the city, I am not ready to go back.
