Sugarhood Ranch

The time has come to give our Urban Ranch a real name.
The only thing I have come up with is
Sugarhood Ranch
but I have a suspicion the charm will war off before too long.

I open this for discussion: What should we call our little slice of farm life?

Here is a brief walk through of what currently lives at 852 South, so you can make an informed suggestion:

Two hens of laying age (although they are yet to grace us with their much anticipated eggs)

This is Ms Gladys
and she is a Buff Brahma.
She has hairy dinosaur feet, screams in chicken jargon a lot and is the head hen.
Her farm job is to lay eggs and look majestic

This is Ms Penelope
and she is a Silver Spangled Hamburg
She is small, faster than a road runner, co-dependent and will hopefully be my first entry in the Utah State Fair.
Her farm job is to chase the small chickens so they don't bother Gladys



Gladys and Penelope are "life partners" and get hysterical if they are separated.
Here you see them basking in the cool grass, teasing the dogs on the other side of the fence
who are loosing their minds trying to get a taste of chicken nuggets.

Ms. Bonnie a Plymouth Rock (and the rising leader of the pack)

Ms. Ellen an Ameraucana
They are 2 months younger than the other 2 but proving to be the favored pair.



This is Mr Pots
He is a Holstein Terrier more commonly referred to as "An unnaturally large Boston Terrier"
He sleeps, chases his guy, eats grass and suns himself
His farm job is to watch the chickens from his perch on the hot tub and keep us informed of the temperature through his dramatic fainting spells


This is our garden.
It is a new addition to the back yard and has been an extreme labor of love.
The money and time we put into building the garden boxes will pay off financially
in about 150 years. But hey, there is joy in this, right?

This year we are growing:

Box #1:
2 tomato plants
1 bell pepper
Marigolds a plenty to keep the pests away

Box #2: Corn, Corn, Chicken and Corn

Box #3:

3 Tomato Plants
Cucumber
Yellow squash
Eggplant
Hot peppers (of some unknown variety)

Box #4:
1 Jalapeno
1 Serrano Pepper
2 Unknown Pepper Varieties

Other Misc yard locations:
Tomatillo
Bibb Lettuce
Arugula
Green Leaf Lettuce
Zuccini
Pumkins
Herbs without number

This is our first meal that came completely from the garden
DEEElicious!

Now that you have way too much information about chickens and vegetables,
help us name our farm plot.

The winner gets an unlimited supply of veggies and eggs.
The person with the worst suggestion will be kidnapped in the night and forced to weed.
